What is split conference rule to get 1 seed?

What is the new rule for split conferences and getting number 1 seeds? I remember teams with losing overall records in the past getting 1 seeds but didnt they say teams have to win a certain amount of their games?

I thought seedings last year and this were based on max preps rankings?

Number 1 seeds in order of their maxpreps ranking.......then everyone else seeded by maxpreps.

In a split conference 2 playoff teams are contenders one from each classifications. If one of the classifications teams doesn't finish in the top 3 they will be a wild card not a conference champion OR if they don't have a .500
overall record they will be a wild card not a conference champion.

NCHSAA unanimously approved a change that requires split-conference champions to have a winning record or be among the top three teams in the conference to earn an automatic bid. Otherwise, split-conference champions will be seeded as a wild card team.
