Most of the long time fans understand where you are coming from, but in real life we have been trying to find that guy for 60 years.Stoops has made blunders to be sure but he has gone form 2-10 the first year to 5-7 in the last two,he will be hard pressed to get to 5-7 this season but he might.
Many have been critical of Stoops in several areas and to an extent deservedly so but he has done no worse than several who came before him and in some areas he is better.
All of us who have been fans for a long time are tired of losing but some of us are willing to admit that we have to get back to where we were in the last few Brooks' years before we can build anything more.
Depending on how the rest of this season plays out I would prefer to see what Stoops does next year rather than start over again. If he goes 3-9 then that is a whole other matter.
We are who we are and we started from where we were after the Joker years, there is no quick fix for that situation.
Very good post Doc., Couldn't have said it any better. My view on this is Kentucky is in a unique position like no other SEC team. Most fans are into it during football season, but has had the basketball season to fall back on and quickly forget the football woes.
Mark Stoops has to have the hardest job in football, You can recruit in the top 10 and still rank 15th in the SEC. You can recruit a top class according to the experts and lose most of them before they reach their senior year for various reasons.
In my opinion there is no magic number of wins that can determine whether he should be retained. or let go. Most all fans should be able to weigh the schedule, scores of the games, injuries and how competitive they are and make that decision based on reasonable facts, not just some number that floats by.
Kentucky is a traditional basketball school playing in a traditional Football conference, no way around that. If we continue to play in the SEC which I agree you are just going to have to give the coaching staff time to do their job and I'm not sure if they ever can because the playing field is not level. I'm just saying there is no magical number of years. Every team and school is different but I haven't give up trying to support the players and coaches.Go Cats!!!!!
