Elevated Student Experience
MSU has been able to modify its student seating based on recent conference policy updates and feedback from student groups, campus leaders and other stakeholders. These changes include the following:
- Student seating is expanding in Sections 111 and 112. For years, many of these lower rows were reserved for working personnel or special guests. Now, more students will be closer to the action with a stronger connection between the floor and the student section.
- The band will relocate to a portion of Section 111, and student access will expand into Section 113. This allows more students to get closer to the sideline and helps create a louder and more unified student section.
- With team benches moving to the east side of the arena and SEC policy not allowing students to be located directly behind the visiting team bench, the previous “student pit” area – which rarely filled to capacity – has been changed in order to both make better use of that space while also expanding student access in higher-impact areas.
- Students will also notice other components that elevate their experience inside The Hump. DJ Skip will be located in the middle of the student section, in section 111, to keep the energy flowing all game long. Student Dawg Dollar use will be expanded to include an additional concession stand.
- Defining Moments
Milestones will be honored and memorable celebrations will be held throughout the season. Mississippi State will commemorate 50 years of Humphrey Coliseum, which opened in December of 1975, with a season-long salute to honor the occasion. MSU will also celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the 1996 Final Four team. Team members and coaches from that team have been contacted with more information about the special recognition in their honor.
