What's your gut feeling going into the Tech game?

I spent some time today reading a TTech board and most of their fans seemed to be afraid of Perine. I can see why. Judging from the fans post the average weight of their DB's is 180 pounds. Most of the fear comes from Perine breaking into that light secondary. Some are calling for an 8 man front and leaving the game in Mayfield's hands. They really do hate him and most of them thinks he will fold.

They are really high on their Q-B, Mahomes, and are counting on his arm. It looks like they do play a wide-split on the offensive line and think that will neutralize Striker.

My gut feeling is we win this one big. I'm thinking 24+. Of course, I had that same feeling during the lightning game, so I could be off...............

What you think?

I feel pretty good about it.
Playing at Owen with our loud hostile crowd.

I'm damn glad they don't have Pirate Leach as coach anymore.
Guy would pass on 4th and 10 like it was normal...and surprisingly made a bunch of them.

If we're prognosticating this now...OU 38 raiders 24.

Well, I wasn't calling out for an official prediction thread, but I can see it going there.
I could see TTech hitting a couple of long passes against our inferior DB'S (Sarc) and some drumming it up for a week or 20....

Well, I know, that's why I ceded them 24, and that might be chintzy.

I so hope it doesn't get into a shoot out. Last man standing deal.
My old heart couldn't take it.

I'll be there by the by.

Nice post. Man I'd love to see some Coach come up with a defense to stop that spread O-Line. I mean think about it. What do you think Buddy Ryan's 85 Bear defense would do? They'd stack the line and blitz the crap out of them.

I've had this one down as an OU win since Riley jumped on board. He and the home field will bring a W on this one. And I'll be sipping brewsky's and watching the game at a beach bar somewhere it Fort Lauderdale. So you crazies behave yourself on the Game Thread.

I feel a lot more confident going into this game than the KSU game!

As bc stated earlier, the team will feed off Baker's enthusiasm and will come out hitting on all cylinders, very much like last week. Tech will make some plays and may even make us uncomfortable for a while, but the Sooners will take control on both sides of the line of scrimmage and will pull away from a feisty, but undermanned Tech squad.

Well Texas Tech is 3rd overall in the nation in total offense behind only TCU and Baylor but then again they are 122nd out of 127 in Total Defense... OU is 13 in offense and 23rd in overall defense. But stats dont decide the game. Our secondary better come to play. Sanchez needs to play tight tight tight...Im afraid he's going to loosen up his play to bait Mahomes for the INT and give up too many completions especially on 3rd down. They are third in the nation on 3rd down percentage (again just behind Baylor and TCU) This game is going to be decided by our secondary and they have a tough task ahead of them. Provided we win this game and I say we do...this is going to be our best experience at what it will take to beat TCU and Baylor.

Yep, Zac and the fellows need to play just straight up smart defense or they'll get burned. They have got to keep everything in front of them with Tech.
Tech has a gambling style offense as usual.
High risk, high rewards...some things never change.

I'm almost certain that Tech's O-line has been running those splits since The Pirate got there and we did just fine by blitzing inside instead of off the edge.

I figure we'll need to be careful of Mahomes feet (if he's healthy, he had been struggling to run much due to injury) with a spy, but their better receivers are smaller so the advantage should be in Sanchez and Thomas' favor if we decide to get physical with them.

Tech almost beat TCU. Now that was at home, but TCU is pretty good. And they came from behind to win on a fluke play on fourth down. Tech is coming from a different place if they win that.

I think that OU's crowd has to be a difference maker this weekend. I think that Baker has taken too many hits in half a season and it's starting to wear him down. He can surely still hurt a defense with his legs, but he is much less able to break tackles in the pocket to make a play, than he was a month ago. And Mahomes is a pure runner athlete who can make a play with his legs as well as any quarterback we've played this year so far, and he throws a lot better than those close to his running ability, that OU has played so far.

Both teams will know each others' offenses really well. Tech's offense knows it better than OU's offense, because they've been running this with little adjustments for 14 years.

OU's defense has to be better than Tech's. The Sooners have to tackle better then the visitors.

Tech is a lot better than the KState team from last weekend. I think OU wins. But it will be close into the second half and maybe the fourth.

Post of the week...Possibly post of the year. Can't believe I forgot we have the '85 Bears Defense.

Da Sooner Bears: 197
Tech: -72

If I'm wrong...we need to fire some coach...again.

Interesting, ESP...When those stats are considered, it still puzzles me why The Big XII-2 is not getting more Attaboys! from the Suits and the Talking Heads...

If we can come out and play from the 1st Quarter like we did against Kansas State and put pressure on the pocket it could be 2008 OU over Texas Tech all over again.

Should the Sooners win, it's going to be hard not to think of a probable 8-1 OU in Waco against a possible 9-0 Bears team. I can't think of a more critical conference game in years for our guys. OU needs to play them one at a time while planning as well for Baylor and beyond.

[edited to say "to be hard" vs. "to hard"]

Nailed it. The sky did not fall and the sun did rise after the RRS. This team STILL has a lot of potential AND a chance to win a Championship. Almost unthinkable to many 2 months ago.

55 - 30 Sooners in a blowout. Tech beat Arkansas and played TCU close but Sooners will be 8-1 going to Waco. They are on a mission after the Texas fiasco.
