Should be an interesting reason why Rutgers is not on that good list.
For whatever reason, it seems Rutgers rarely recruits from Shore Conference schools. I'm sure I'm missing some, but the only ones from recent memory that went P5 are:

Elijah McAllister from Rumson Fair Haven to Vanderbilt. He was a TE in HS. RU offerred. I see he just transferred as DE to Auburn.

Tim Wright was from Wall High School.

Going way back, Knowshon Moreno went to Middletown HS.

A couple/few Red Bank Catholic kids went P5, but can't think of names.

To be clear, not saying schools from "the shore" but from the "Shore Conference, which is Monmouth County plus the Pt. Beach and Pt. Boro high schools.

Quenton Nelson was a shore kid also correct?

A few others off the top of my head in recent history;

Pickett - Ocean Township / Pitt

Garrett Sickels - Red Bank / PSU

Yes, Quinton Nelson - RBC / ND. Raised in Holmdel

Anthony Brown - SJV / BC/Oregon

Pickett and Sickels, huge misses by me. Pickett was a huge miss by a lot of colleges.
True, but surprised no one even mentioned one of them.

There is even a thread about one those guys on the Board right now. Although it has pivoted into something else…surprise, surprise.🙄
Which thread?

One was Micah Clark.

Hansen and Beatty where the other two from SJV. I was in the mindset of only listing Shore kids that actually made some significant contributions on the NCAA field of play.

Oops. Let's not forget longsnapper Rick Lovato of the Eagles from Middletown South?

Donavon Catholic have a Freshman RB who ran for almost 600 yards and 8 TDs

Mike Gesicki - Southern HS/PSU

Donald Brown - RBC/UConn

Wasn’t there someone from Barnegat HS fairly recently as well?

My area , the Shore, traditionally produces way more busts than productive players. Certainly some good players mentioned above, so perhaps that is changing.

Big Ten recruiting needs to be at a level way beyond county boundaries. It’s all about talent, not where they hail from.

I forget the criterion, but only certain Ocean County HS's are in the Shore conference:
Pt Boro
Pt Beach
Southern Regional (Manahawkin)
Lakewood
Manchester

Barnegat, Pinelands, the Toms River high schools and others are not part of the Shore Conference, but play many Shore Conference schools.

Agreed. NJ has a hell of a lot more talent than just the Bergen/ Bosco/ Joes Schools that Rutgers seem to be infatuated with but gets burned when those kids always seem to go elsewhere.

That’s a very old link from 2013. All the schools you mentioned are part of the Shore conference.

Clark was from Holmdel. Isnt that located in the strange area that people are trying to rename between north and south NJ?

also of note Jay Bellamy from Matawan and Art Forst from Manasquan and Clark Harris is from the shore conference as well

Making too much out of this conference thing. Find the talent and fit from anywhere. Our rose bowl QB is from Central Jersey. 😉.
