spent the summer with out in California, a few years ago ? I ask this because Stephen Johnson, like Max, is from Cali. And since the UK coaches are not allowed any summer time work with the players, could this guy possibly work with SJ this summer out west ?
I cannot remember his name, but I believe he played in the NFL, and had played at Clemson maybe.

Just relying on my memory, which gets worse everyday, but I think Max Smith was working out with Steve DeBerg before he came to UK.

I don't think Johnson has time to get much better unless he has 3 yr of eligibility left.

SJ needs to eat some peanut butter sandwiches this off season.

Also, if things continue trending the way they are he should be named starter early on in the spring and getting a lion's share of the reps is going to be huge.

Learning more of the playbook, gaining more confidence in the system, and continuing to build up some chemistry with the team is going to help as well.

Folks, if CMS n staff play their cards right the rest of this season and in the off season, we could have a solid, mature, battle tested QB surrounded by an upperclassmen heavy team.

I agree with Johnson's upside but I am a little hazy about Barker's situation IF most of his problems were because of his injury situation and he can play like he started the year then I doubt if anyone beats him out. I think a lot of posters could be writing him off too early, but with the supporting cast either one could be very good next year.

SJ2 seems to be a smart fella as well as being a tad more mobile and that is what makes him starter next season. But as a lions fan I hope Eric Kramer does not " help" anyone at UK.

Disagree especially if SJ leads this team to a bowl game and gets the extra month of practice time. We also have 5 games left in this season so that adds another month of practice. l love his demeanor on the field and he dosen't seem to get rattled. I also believe that if we get to a bowl game and win it he should be the starter going into next season.

I know that it will be messy, and honestly a tough situation for Barker, but if he does get us to a bowl and continue to progress like he has then the decision needs to be made early and definitively. I know it would put Stoops in a tough situation but the last thing UK would need after taking the next step forward would be a QB controversy.
