VANDY sitting at 4 losses will lose 3 more. South Carolina sitting at 4 losses will also lose 3 more. Missou has 5 losses. Even if they were to beat us, they still lose 2 more and will not be eligible. MS ST is also all but eliminated. That's 4 SEC teams whose chances are very slim. Us and Georgia are next. If we win at Mizzou we are in. If we were to go on to beat UGA we will get a decent bowl. Do that and also upset UT we get a very nice bowl. WE control or own destiny when it comes to bowl level. If we were to cave like we did last two years, then 5 SEC teams would not be bowl eligible. Can't remember when that has happened.

Never thought of things in that perspective but you are correct. Unless some of these SEC bowl tie-ins have a "minimum win requirement" (very unlikely, bowls don't care about teams, just attendees) a 6 win Cat team will move up the bowl ladder this year.

Good call. Looks an awful lot like either Birmingham or Shreveport from here (assuming we get to six), but stranger things have happened.

Keep getting wins and that Southern Miss loss won't matter anymore (other than it just still pisses me off)...it's about how the Cats fare against the SEC teams that will dictate where we go.

It also doesn't matter whether or not certain teams are down this year. It is not Kentucky's responsibility that they be good.

Just win baby.

Don't forget some teams with 5 wins will likely go bowling, like last year. Minnesota, Nebraska, and UCLA were the three 5-win teams that got bids... they all won their bowl games. I believe it goes by APR.

Assuming we can win 6, and if it all plays out like its trending....we would be competing against potentially a 6 win Ole Miss team, a 6-7 Georgia team and 6-7 win Arkansas team for the lower to mid tier bowls.

You would have to think just based on our bowl drought and potential to sell tickets we might leap over those underperforming 3? Maybe?

Plus, I don't believe the SEC in the end will be able to fill all of their bowl commitments when you throw Alabama into the final four. so Birmingham with a not so desirable location, payout and facilities would probably be filled by at large teams.

A win Saturday and Georgia is the pivot point for how high or low we are in the order

What bowl would we go to if we run the table and upset Alabama in Atlanta?

We'd be 10-3 with wins over UT, UL and Bama
I'll say Cotton Bowl.

Ha love your enthusiasm but I don't see us beating Louisville. We have a better shot at beating Tennessee.

We might (100-1) win out, but we will never (this year) follow that up with beating Bama in Atlanta, with them staring at CFP and title. I'd be thrilled if we just got there and held our own for 3 qtrs before a late surge by Bama, and the BBN turned out in full support.

If we beat Missouri, UGA and UT, and manage to get some help from Florida, what bowl we go to is beside the point. We'll be in Atlanta for the SEC Championship game. Not likely, but to still be in that discussion right now and after the crappy start to the season is pretty exciting.

Not a fan of going back to Birmingham, or Nashville really. Not that I would rant and rave if that's where we wind up, but I would love the Belk Bowl, Gator Bowl, or 3rd the Liberty Bowl.

We stand a chance to get a better bowl than we "deserve" this year b/c the SEC has at least 4 teams that won't make a bowl. Add in the fact that at least one SEC team is a shoe-in for the playoff and that frees up another slot. Add in the fact that UK fans would travel in droves to a bowl game while some other fanbases may not be feeling so enthusiastic (ahem, Georgia? Ole Miss? Florida?), and we could see a phenomenon like 1998 when UK was chosen over Georgia for the Outback despite having a lesser record and a head-to-head loss against the Dawgs.

Here are the SEC bowl tie ins:

Playoff
Sugar
Possible 2nd or 3rd New Year's Six (Peach, Rose, Orange, Cotton)
Citrus
Outback
Belk
Music City
Texas
Independence
Birmingham
Liberty
TaxSlayer

As of today, it's very plausible to see:

Playoff - Bama
Sugar - UT
Cotton / Orange - LSU and / or A&M (any 10-2 SEC team will be appealing, possibly even 9-3)
Citrus - LSU (assume they don't get New year's 6)
Outback - Auburn
Taxslayer - Florida
Belk - Georgia
Texas - Arkansas
Liberty - Ole Miss
Music City - UK

Out: Mizzou, MSU, Candy, USC

As you can see, getting a second team in the NY 6 (or the playoff) could move UK up yet another slot to a Florida bowl or possibly Belk or Texas. Beat Georgia or UT (or UL?) and the bowl game gets much bigger.

This would happen if we won out.

That would put us in the Sugar Bowl for being the SEC Champs. Let's say that Bama only loses that one game in the championship, would they still go to the playoffs even though they didn't even win their conference? I don't think we would have any chance at all getting into the playoffs with a 10-3 record. So would a team that ends the year at 12-1 and doesn't win their conference still get there? It would make for interesting discussions if all this happened, but it is extremely unlikely for us to make the playoffs even with wins over Georgia, Tennessee, Louisville, and Alabama.

We have about this much chance for all this to happen.

Hate to say it....yes Johnson has filled in admirably, but its our running game, that has kept us above water....

FYI, rumor has it that Ole Miss is having a press conference today. Possibly self-imposing a bowl ban, which would free up yet another SEC bowl slot...

Last week, one of the SEC Nation said UK and Vandy would go bowling. I believe it was Booger McFarland.

I think this week is just as urgent as last week. Better chance to beat Missouri than Georgia, in my opinion.
Win this week and the apprehension disappears.

I will say though, that if Clemson loses to Fla St. this weekend and then wins out, the selection committee would take UL over Clemson even though Clemson won the ACC and beat UL. (assuming UL beats Houston) I think UL is the flavor of the month as the media darlings.

I think it all comes down to this week.
If the Cats can beat a very bad Mizzou team on the road they are all but assured to get to 6-6 min.

Vandy, SC, Miss St and Mizzou will probably miss 6 wins

I expect Miss at some point to decide to take a bowl ban this year once they get to 4-5 losses.

UK could get a nice bowl if they get those 6 wins. If
