why didn't we call timeout to save 40 secs when they were going to score?

Because if you do hold them like you are trying to do. You allow more time on the clock. They still had all three timeouts, if you don't convert a first down they will have ball at midfield with about a minute left.

If you stop them then you give it to Benny Snell and get a damn first down. No way you want to take a chance on losing the game while not giving your offense time to score. I bet CMS calls timeout in that situation next time. All's well that ends well but next time I'd like that FG to be a good bit shorter.

Shouldnstate had ran another play with clock moving he calls a timeout. But they scored and left with three timeouts. If you take over on the five don't get a first down (everyone knows your running up gut and hard to do). And your kicker gets a normal 40 yard punt. You then have to get two stops.

Even if they scored a td we only needed the fg for the win. With college rules (NFL is a different ballgame) that is a lot of time.

Honestly I thought about it....
But...you keep the pressure on them by keeping the clock moving and no guarantee they were going to get six there.
It wasn't like they were inside the five with first and goal.

That doesn't save any time at all unless you know for certain the play they will score on, conceded and let them score, or were willing to use every one of your timeouts and try to rush the kicking unit out.

What if we call that timeout to "save 40 seconds" and instead of going into the endzone Ross got stoned at the 2? Then you saved no time and threw a TO away. We had piss poor clock management on our side so who knows the difference it would make, we kept a TO in the chamber anyways, but what the OP talks about would have been pointless.

Once under a minute you coach that different. Had they ran a draw to the two, we would of called the timeout. If we needed six you might take that timeout, but having those in your back pocket and current NCAA timing rules, you allowed yourself to use the middle of field with timeout. And they didn't need three they had to have a td and those aren't given ESP in red zone as field shrinks.

Also thought official was starting clock way quicker late, than they had all game. But we won, and looked like the better coached team. What was the penelty I think we had only three I can remember. (False start on Johnson, dpi on westry on final drive which thought they were fishing for that play to draw one , and I remember one more but don't rme

1) wasn't Conrad
2) wasn't officials fault.

It's frustrating when it happens, but the official has the right to be there, Walker has to know where he is on the field, know where the officials line up and go to during a play. Unless he goes full Wilbur Hackett, it's always the players responsibility, not the officials.

Good thing we got that 18 yard reception with 3 seconds left. Use your timeouts especially if your not even close to field goal range.we won but had we lost.just think how many clock management post we would have had. I still believe!! I believe in stoops also

Like I said before if you have a good kicker does a 25 yard winning FG worth more than a winning 50 yarder?

Why didn't we call a TO when MSU was driving? Could've killed their momentum. Why didn't we call TO during the presidential debates? Why did the Fab Five call TO when they didn't have one?

The world may never know.
