Why does Benet hate Nazareth so much, and are they on LA's level of snoot?

From their FR game PA Announcers, "Even though we hate Nazareth, we will tolerate them today. Meep meep!"

Just to clear out the other thread on JCA/Naz...

Wait the PA announcer said that at the actual game?

In terms of why people don't like Naz, I would put it like this:

1. When I was 18, my 14 year old brother went out with a girl and got to second base. When he got home, he couldn't stop proclaiming his extensive experience, powerful knowledge and exceeding capability with the ladies. In other words, he needed to get punched, and he did. Now I'm not saying that is how Naz is, but that's how Naz fans CAN be on here. A little humility goes a long way. (more general, not just BA-Naz)

2. Benet people CAN be a little over the top with the attitude. Everyone else CAN be seen as being beneath them. As a Montini grad, we experienced this back in the day.

3. No real rivalry for either team, so maybe they look at Naz as the logical water to their oil. I say run with it, both sides. Everyone needs a foil in sports, why not BA-Naz as a gear grinding rivalry. I for one would welcome a more passionate rivalry for Montini, but with Benet getting bounced out of the old WSCC years ago and Driscoll closing,we are stuck with StF, and the hate just ain't there. Yet.

4. Jealousy. Naz is on a great little run here, so the Academy people could be projecting based on their lack of success on the grid.

I say embrace the bad blood. It creates excitement, and as long as no one gets hurt, what's the big deal if some blueblood from BA says he hates Naz?

I'm just giving this it's own thread. IDGAF what any other school thinks of Nazareth, and I for one welcome a little attitude about football teams. As for academics, same. I've never met someone from Nazareth that failed at life because they chose Nazareth over another school.

Even our most loathsome, greedy, heinous and despicable grads have at least become teachers...

That's what I was relayed. Apparently he sounded two sheets to the wind at times, didn't understand actual football. I knew they have bad PA people in general, just lacking any good attributes as public speakers or football minds, but to do that at the FR level is a bit much.

Devil's Advocate: In the age of Facebook and Twitter, the idea of any of kind of rivalry is gone.

Didn't the Naz kids leave the student section during a home boys basketball game 5-6 years ago to go in the hallway and push the Benet team around on the way to the locker room? Around when Kaminsky and Sobo were playing.

A lot of the kids at both schools are from Naperville, Downers Grove, Lagrange Park, Hinsdale, Woodrige. I think that has lead to a natural rivalry developing between the two.

In German, it is called "das backpfeifengesicht" -- a face in need of a slap.

Some schools have a few, some a lot, but all schools have at least one.

I usually go to the Naz/Benet hoop games because we like Benet's coach, he's a great guy...never heard about this happening. I doubt there was anyone in the student section that could match up with Kaminsky anyway.

As a Loyola Academy graduate and a parent of a St. Ignatius student I am here to answer snootiness comments and/pr questions.

Please note my fanciest car is a 2006 Toyota Highlander.

Ah thank you. I've never had a bad LA experience, but apparently they've set the standard.

Do you only eat the freshest farm-to-table meals, grown on your estate by MC grads, and served on golden platters? Everything, including the platters are of course thrown away.

Close but LA families their food grown on the farm about 1.5 miles west of the school on Lake. This is done because there is no room on the estate as the land is usually taken up by 6 hole golf courses, pools and tennis courts. The crunchy New Trier "grads" grow the food. MC graduates guard the estates.

Little know fact about the golden platters - they are actually hand me downs from Ignatius families.

I call your bluff no way LA families take hand me downs.

No heated seats, no leather seats, no navigation system - but it does have a third row of seats.
Better than my '06 Camry - no third seat- a Carmax fleet special - which probably is the hand me down my daughter will drive to CoM, LA or St. Joe-Kenosha.

I have heard from Several bball parents that Naz fans can be pretty BS. I don't know nor care. I just raise this as hey, they say the same things about you guys when it comes to basketball at your crib
