Why Were We So Bad the First Two Games?

I'm positive like everyone else right now regarding our last few games. I seriously appreciate what Coach Stoops has done with our Defense because we lack serious depth. He is getting the most out of a thin Defense with young talent.

In addition, I feel more comfortable with Coach Gran on offense than any offensive coordinator I can remember at UK in the past twenty years.

I want Coach Stoops to succeed because frankly, I like the guy and want long term stability at UK football.

It just bugs me and "concerns me".....How could we come out SO FLAT the first two games? I mean, we looked HORRIFIC on defense.

What did Coach Stoops do to turn this ship around the last few games?

I wish I was a fly on the wall during practices. I'm assuming that he is Coaching different and behaving different to get these different results?

Something has changed........And changed for the better......

What is it? What is your hypothesis?
I like Gran and Hinshaw very much - however, we HAD a really good OC before them. Just look at what is happening with Troy with Neal Brown in his second year. He would have been great for this program if he had stayed - he is a great OC in my opinion. But again, I like what we have now - just wanting to recognize that the offense was doing really well under Neal Brown.

Go Big Blue!

I have a little different opinion. First half against USM was a fluke. We couldn't stop their run in the first half. Luckily we got the picks and hit some big plays on offense. 2nd half USM just kept doing what they were doing but stopped turning it over. We had little to no run game in both halves and they just adjusted to our pass game.

It came down to the fact that we had not been battle tested yet. Growing pains at LB and DL. And Quite frankly our talented secondary was a little cocky coming in to the season and needed a wake up call to play some good football. Hell UT should have lost to App State... It can happen to anybody.
