One of the wildest things I've ever seen. Kirby very clearly is calling for a timeout. As soon as it's granted, he tells the refs he was only clapping and not trying to call a timeout. The refs grant UGA a whole new play. The video shows Kirby very clearly and emphatically making the timeout signal AND yelling "time" at the ref. It's not ambiguous. It was 3rd and 9. UGA would go onto convert and score on the drive.

I wonder how Kirby will coach speak around this. There's zero ambiguity. He wasn't calling timeout in such a way as to make it unclear what his intentions were (like on a test in Spanish class when you can't remember where the accent mark goes, so you put it halfway between 2 letters). He's making as clear of a TO signal as has ever been made WHILE yelling "time".
Video clearly shows he was lying. I don't know as a grown man how you could publicly defend it.
When will the SEC fix its officiating problem?
Georgia coach Kirby Smart’s hand clap has Hugh Freeze seeing red after controversial no-call
What was supposed to be a timeout turned into a game-changing new play for Georgia, leaving Auburn with their third straight SEC loss and plenty of questions.
