Happy 4th of July:
3 presidents/founders died on the 4th. Jefferson, Adams, and Monroe.
1 president was born on the 4th. Coolidge

Good to see you guys here. But I would not post politics on this board. The publisher deleted the politics board for VQ ~2016. Leftist complained because the board was anti-woke and TPTB got tired of the complaints and pulled the plug.

This place is full of tumbleweeds. Politics would energize this thread. But knowing the history of this place it would probably get whacked.

If anyone finds a good or any free politics forums please share. I liked to check in at lunch and was suffering withdrawal yesterday.

I have a site but will save that convo for later. Its also full of tumbleweeds.

meanwhile enjoy this article about today:

This place burns my fcking eyes, but I’ve learned that destroying liberal nutjobs supersedes my deep, intense love for the tahd and Saban and the bahr.

So I will accept this as my temporary homeland if I must.

As long as Odub says it’s okay, I’m good. Besides, we’ve still got scoreboard on the utt-bay uggers-chay, so….small wins are big for awbrin these days.

Where is errbody?
Anyone got word on this?
@Orange_N_White

Seems to ignore the fact that NIL came about from a SCOTUS ruling. It has to do with the right of a person to earn money and anti-trust laws.

The House ruling does not change the SCOTUS ruling. Its about revenue sharing with schools not NIL. The NCAA and conferences want a salary cap on NIL but House ruling does not give them that. This is a backdoor attempt at illegal activity. They are trying to create a new body and use a 3rd party arbiter (who has some past ethical issues) to sneak in new rules and hope that they can skirt anti-trust laws.

If the NCAA or the new governing body tries to prevent a student from getting the biggest NIL deal he can get then SCOTUS will likely shoot that down. If they think the students are going to meekly accept new rules and pay cuts they might just FAFO.

If the NCAA/Conferences/new.guv.body lose a lawsuit involving anti-trust my understanding is that the student will get 3x the money lost.

So lets look at a collective offering pay a Carson Beck $4m just to come and play. He has to do nothing else. Then Deloitte says no he has to do a tv ad and those are at best worth 10k. (Deloitte has said they would have already denied 80% of NIL deals.) Well Beck is going to sue, win in court and the school, conference and the governing body will owe him $12m.

TN gubmint is saying h3ll no to that scenario. Our AG has already sued and beat the NCAA for its heavy handedness and anti-trust activity. These rumors and articles are part of and effort by the NCAA and its media allies to get revenge and reel in UT.

The problem is that the athlete is still going to have a say in court and is going to beat the snot out of everyone involved, again.

Some sort of collective bargaining group made up of the athletes and probably the NIL collectives will have to get a seat at the table. Then you can have a cap and transfer rules that will stick in court. A cap would not need a Deloitte making arbitrary and capricious judgments on each transaction.

Suppose they get voted off the island?

So what if Freezus can’t ‘cruit.

Lots of coaches can’t crack the Top 70
Just like I told yall….:

“You are seeing a lot of people lie and promise fake things,” he told Sports Illustrated reporter Ross Dellenger in a story posted earlier this week. “We don’t know the rules. The settlement passed, but who knows what (NIL Go) is going to clear. Until there is clarity, you’re living in limbo.”

Dillingham went a step further when speaking with ESPN’s Pete Thamel: “To me, recruiting is dead. Retention is alive.”

Freeze hasn’t said that, but he might. The Tigers’ third-year coach speaks often about how relationships remain the most important part of recruiting, coaching and player retention. He also put Auburn’s money where his mouth is during the spring when he worked aggressively to retain the overwhelming majority of his 2024 roster and augment it with some key portal additions.”

“Recruiting is dead” is a pretty obvious statement

Something happened with my account, haven't been able to recover the old one for some reason. It must've been tied to my old UA e-mail account that hasn't worked in 6-7 years.

I've changed my alias/username but it doesn't seem to be accepting it.

Anywho, glad to see ya'll still exist. And this orange is god awful

It's certainly doesn't mean what it used to mean. But I do think there's some advantage in signing the guys you want and then trying to retain them over trying to raid other rosters.
I think the smart move is to recruit HS studs but let them go to a rival. After they go through redshirt yr THEN go tamper the shite out of them and bring them hAUm.

Thanks for letting us know who you are with that signature. We would’ve never known with just that screen name. 👍
