We’re headed in the right direction. Is it as quickly as some of you miserable 17s want? No. It’s not. Is it as quickly as I’d like to see it? No, it’s not. However, we’re one win away from being bowl eligible and our coach isn’t a prospect for the plethora of coaching positions available this year….yall should just calm down and let things develop

How sensible of you. There will always be a faction of fans who just can't have an opinion other than our coach is great or fire our coach. Nothing in between for the smooth brains.

So he took lowly MSU in two years to bowl eligibility and won their first SEC game in 2 years against a dumpster fire if a program, he had to eek out a win as well. You mean he's not up for another head coaching job? Color me surprised***

You must be representative of the miserable 17s I’ve been talking about for the past two weeks.

Engaging you in a logical conversation would be equivalent to convincing a TSUN fan that Swayze field is not the same as DNF. You’re one of the ones that wanted to fire the whole staff, GA to MSU Pres, the first time they didn’t pass/run the ball when you yelled they should do that from your recliner.

Before the game: “We’re going to lose. Arkansas took Tennessee and Texas A&M to the wire. Bobby Petrino has got them playing better. We don’t have the mental fortitude to go up there and win after the last two weeks.”

After the game when we win: “Arkansas is hapless. I’m not giving Lebby any credit for this win over the last place team. Still doesn’t change my opinion.”

We really do have some of the worst fans.

The big issue is: 1) we have the dumbest fanbase in the SEC. Our fans have no idea what it takes to build a winning program 2) our fanbase has no idea the state of our program in 2024 when Lebby took over. Absolute dumpster fire. It was always going to take a couple years to begin to see results. Point 1 & 2 tie together

ETA: it’s amazing we sit here 3 plays away from potentially being 8-1 with three games to play. Yet this board is a cesspool of idiots trying to fire the coach every week. I doubt Lebby will reach his potential here, not because he isn’t a good young coach or we can’t get talent, but because our fans are constantly looking for reasons every week to sabotage what’s being built.

Im still not on the Lebby bandwagon....but now I'm on the KT bandwagon. Should have given him more opportunities throughout the season.

For the love of god, we won a road SEC game on the road after trailing by 2 TDs going into the fourth quarter. We just broke a 2 year SEC losing streak. Just 17’n enjoy this one for God’s sake.

When is the last time we came back from 2 TDs down in a SEC game on the road? I don't want to hear about penalties. Penalties are part of the game - see Bama vs us or anybody under Saban.

All I asked for was improvement. I'm not really happy with the season as a whole, but we have improved. We still have a couple of games to go before I will say I'm ready for another season. I am happy that the Team figured out a way to win one on the road.
Sometimes I feel like being an MSU fan is as bad as following political fanatics. We've got some posters that want coaches fired after their first loss, and we've got others that will tell us to this day that Croom and Rick Ray just needed more time. And no one wants to spend a second listening to the other view

For me, it's always possible or better yet, likely that the truth is in the middle. Lebby's done an admirable job getting this group of guys ready to play football this season against some really tough teams. He's also made some boneheaded coaching decisions that have cost us wins, and there are plenty of reasons to not be sold on him. Either way, he's done enough to secure his job for next season, so the best thing to do for all parties is to hope that he fills just as many holes during the off season as he did this past season, and who knows... maybe we break through to 7-8 wins next year

Typically happens when coaches show improvement.
That is all I asked for. A winning record is a plus, with our current state of affairs. We should be sitting pretty with three more wins than we have. All I can hope for is that we have learned something. You have to remember what we started with.

Barring an off field issue or another 2-10 season, he was never not returning. The ASU game guaranteed his return (although he'd probably still returned with a loss and 3-9 record).

I swear this needs to be pinned to the top for everyone to read every time they visit this board.

My real hope with Lebby is that somehow he can make the team good enough such that his boneheadedness is not enough to lose us games

After a couple of years I knew Croom wasn't going to work out, after I saw Arnett's first live interview I said "WTF have we done"?, I felt like Mullen was going to be at least moderately successful from his first year . Lebby......while I know it's not time to even discuss firing him because there is no doubt we have greatly improved......I just can't get a feel for his "ceiling" . I see potential but he is making so many bonehead decisions.....I just don't know. I'm still hoping for another Mullen-like scenario...we'll see.

Well technically it's way harder to win a road game at home than it is to win one on the road.***

I’m good with Lebby……he has a lot to learn, but he is a young coach in this new NIL era……and I just don’t think we fully understand yet what he has been able to do…….and a lot of that, for me, is keeping a locker room of players together where this is a large portion of “money” players that will jump ship in a minute

while frustrated, I think it has to be acknowledged that he has done something we may not fully understand yet

True but others might see our record this year and see last year's record (not thinking about how we had a true freshman playing the majority of the year) and try to pull him. He's a new HC learning on the job so some might overlook the flaws and encourage him to hire an OC.
That said will he be the top choice for many of these jobs, likely not but there is a lot of movement going on so many of these teams will be falling down their later.
That being said, it'll be interesting to see what Selmon does. The more wins, the harder the decision will be as it will be more teams interested.
I'm not saying anything blue blood will pick him up but when other teams lose their coach, eventually Lebby will make some lists.
That said, I'll be interested if Huff makes another move. He has southern turned around.

He's got the players believing in themselves and their coaches more than most on this board. He obviously gets another year.

If that first tackle was made, it looks like turnover. Was it the angle or was he running just short of the first down?
