Four-star Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff defensive back and Texas commit Malik Muhammad has set an official visit date with Alabama, On3’s Joseph Hastings has confirmed. The news was first reported by 247Sports’ Hank South.

Muhammad will trip to Tuscaloosa on October 22-23, his fourth time visiting the Crimson in the last calendar year. He previously visited the Crimson Tide over the summer, as well as trips in April and January for the program’s junior day.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has been committed to the Longhorns since July, choosing Steve Sarkisian and Co. over Alabama, Texas A&M, Miami, and a host of other programs. But the Crimson Tide have not given up their pursuit. Muhammad told Hastings earlier this month that he hears from Alabama defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson on a regular basis, and the Tide want to add him to their top-ranked recruiting class.

“For the main part, he’s been telling me that they’re going to get me,” Muhammad said. “They’re still recruiting me until the end. He’s been talking with my dad, trying to work out different things as far as outside of football. What they have to offer with NIL and things like that.

… I told Coach T-Rob and them that the pressure is on them. But I also told Texas that they’ve got to keep me.”

Malik Muhammad Recruiting Profile

Muhammad is the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Muhammad also ranks as the nation’s No. 4 cornerback and the No. 8 senior recruit in the state of Texas.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about him as a recruit:

“Long-armed corner who excels in press-man coverage with the ball skills to create turnovers. Shows off his ball skills with the ability to high point the football while playing receiver. Has a 6’3”+ wingspan despite being around 6-feet in height. Ran an electronically-timed 4.61 40-yard dash in 2021, showing good speed relative to other corner prospects.

… This speed and burst translates to the track as well as he participates in the 400m/800m/1600m relays as well as the high jump, long jump and triple jump. One of the most natural corners in the country that will need to add more mass to his frame in order to hold up with the physicality of the game at the next level. Helped his high school team to a historic state title as a junior.”
