Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star running back Anthony Rogers announced a top five of AlabamaAuburnFloridaGeorgia and Oregon on May 21. It did not take him long to reveal his college destination.

Rogers always knew that the Crimson Tide were going to be one of his finalists and realized he wanted to play for head coach Nick Saban and his staff around two months ago. He shared his intention to take his talents to Tuscaloosa on Friday.

“I know that if I go there, I’m going to be on the right track,” Rogers told On3. “That’s going to help me get to where I need to go. Another thing is that it’s just Bama. They’re the best. Bama is just the best school to be at. They’ve always been the best and they’re always winning, and I like to win.”

According to Rogers, he has visited Alabama six or seven times. The Crimson Tide have been involved in his recruitment for a while, as they offered him in the January of his freshman year.

Rogers, who chose Alabama over Florida, has two siblings attending college in Tuscaloosa. Additionally, the 5-foot-8, 185-pound tailback is friends with three Crimson Tide players: defensive linemen Khurtiss Perry and James Smith and linebacker Qua Russaw.

“I feel like it’s a great place,” said Rogers, the No. 96 overall prospect and No. 8 running back in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “The main thing I feel is a lot of focus. Everybody is focused on what they need to do and what they need to accomplish. Everybody is about their business and that’s what I like about Bama.”

Rogers trusts that Alabama’s coaches will develop him

Rogers first met Alabama running backs coach Robert Gillespie in eighth grade. The four-star shared that he has been “on his radar ever since.”

In addition to his work developing tailbacks, Rogers likes Gillespie as a person and how he recruits. He is excited to learn from him in the coming years.

“I like to be moved around so I can get the ball in space and make big plays,” said Rogers, who believes his play resembles former Alabama running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and Trent Richardson. “Whatever they need me to do, that’s what I’ll do there.”

Once he enrolls in Tuscaloosa, Rogers knows he has “some big shoes to fill.” However, he is excited for that opportunity.

Rogers is also looking forward to being mentored by Saban, who he called the GOAT.

“He’s a good man,” Rogers said. “He’s always giving me good advice and making sure I’m on track on and off the field. He’s a good role model and of course, he’s a great coach and has a lot of experience. That’s the head coach I want to be playing under.”
