Bryce Young is college football’s premier player. He returns as a 2021-22 national runner-up and the Heisman Trophy winner. But he’s still putting in the hours to get even better and secure a second Heisman while locking down his rightful spot as the No. 1 pick in next spring’s NFL Draft. Part of his offseason plan has included going to the Manning Passing Academy this June. It’s an event that hosts many of the top quarterbacks across the country at the collegiate level.

While attending the Academy this week, Young met with media. Particularly, he was asked about the younger portion of the Alabama roster for 2022 — the early enrollees. Here is what Bryce Young had say on the topic of the guys who just got on campus:

“Actually they’ve looked really, really good. The early enrollees have come in and worked really hard. I think we have a really good group of kids with a really good head on their shoulders, which is equally as important. The early enrollees and now the summer enrollees that just got here, those guys, looks like they have a really good chance of having an impact on us early.

“I’m excited. I’m excited to watch them grow, watch them learn. It’s funny thinking back, being a little older now, getting the offense, then remembering when I didn’t know what was going on in our first practices and watching them kind of go through that. But I’m excited to work with them and I think we have a really bright future.”

As is always the case with Alabama, their locker room is loaded from front to back, from true freshmen through redshirt seniors, with elite talent. However, among the vast pool of great players for the ‘Tide, reporters did ask Young to single out one or two early enrollees who have shined in practice. This was his report:

“So far, early enrollees — I think it’s a really raw list. I think obviously me being a little closer to the offense, knowing the guys, I work with Ty [Simpson] every day. So seeing him grow, pick up the offense has been really good. Receivers that come in have also been really good. They’ve came in and worked a lot, been explosive, been good for us. Running back, [Jahmyr Gibbs] came in and picked things up well. I think we have a really good group of guys that have really good heads on their shoulders. It’s early, so you see people struggle, but seeing how eager they are to learn and get it right, that’s what’s really encouraging.”

Bryce Young appears condfident in the group of youngsters he’ll have to handoff and throw passes to. Saban’s guys are gunning for the title once again.
