Eli Ricks made his way across the SEC West this offseason, joining Alabama from rival LSU. Even if he was not one of the SEC’s top cornerbacks, seeing a play transfer between the two programs was a big deal considering their recent competitive history. However, it seems as if Ricks could be having some regrets about his decision.

Recent trends with athletes when potentially being unhappy have been scrubbing their social media. Ricks has gotten rid of anything and everything Alabama from his Instagram. The most interesting part, though, is something posted on his story.

Ricks decided to post an old photo of himself dawning an LSU jersey. Along with the picture, the song “Test & Recognize” was playing with the lyrics “I know what to do. Then come back to you. It comes back to you” going across the screen.

Ricks’ time in Tuscaloosa has not fully gone to plan, not being a full-time starter for Alabama. He has been used as a rotational piece, with Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold playing at cornerback. Although he has appeared in every game this season, Ricks has only recorded two tackles for the Crimson Tide.

LSU, mainly during his freshman season, is where Ricks was excellent during his three-year college career. He was voted a third-team All-American by the AP in 2020 before suffering a season-ending injury in 2021. It’s possible he is missing the success endured in Baton Rouge.

For now, it’s nothing but social media speculation regarding Ricks. With the new NCAA transfer portal rules, he would not be allowed to move out of the program at this time either. It’s possibly something to monitor once the regular season is over and Alabama begins to prepare for whichever postseason event they end up in.
