Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson defensive lineman Peter Woods has already established himself as one of the premier 2023 prospects in the country. He holds nearly three dozen offers as a junior, including from home state programs like Auburn and Alabama.

This weekend, he’ll be in Tuscaloosa for his fifth visit since June, he announced Wednesday night on Twitter.

Woods is the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 5 defensive lineman and the No. 3 prospect in Alabama.

In addition to the Tigers and Crimson Tide, the 6-foot-2, 275-pounder holds offers from Georgia, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and nearly 30 others. The Tide have emerged as the early favorites in his recruitment, though. He has visited them the most of any school he is in contact with, and he possesses strong family ties to the university and Tuscaloosa.

He recently named a top six that features Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia and Oregon.

“Without any major coaching changes, I see myself at one of these schools,” Peter Woods recently told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I really like all six.”

Of the Tide, he had this to say: ““The reputation at Alabama speaks for itself. It is Alabama. I am sure a lot of recruits say that, but the way Alabama does things is different. They always make me feel welcome too. I have been there a lot and it feels like the family at Alabama.”
