As NFL executives gather in Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama’s Pro Day on Wednesday, they will not get the opportunity to see wide receiver Jameson Williams after his ACL surgery. Despite his absence in drills, the Ohio State transfer attended the event and spoke with those in attendance about his recovery.

While talking with SEC Network reporter Chris Doering asked Jameson Williams about his ACL surgery progress and timetable for return, expanding on reports before Alabama’s Pro Day.

“Everything’s going real well right now, I’m about 10 weeks out of surgery,” said Williams. “I got a little five to seven month span on when the recovery is going to go. But everything is going real good, I’m getting real good motion, just real good workouts and just getting back on my feet. That’s the main part, just getting back on my feet and getting back ready to play football. It’s exciting going through the process.”

Williams also discussed how he feels watching his friends and teammates go through drills while on the sideline, and he expressed his joy in the process.

“It’s not frustrating because I get to see some of my guys with lifelong relationships get a chance to do it,” said Williams. “I’m just excited to be in the building. I got a chance to be in the building and talk to some guys, talk to some coaches. It’s just all been a dream, just living it up really – just living – this is a great experience. … I’ve just been living out the experience to the fullest, it’s been a dream since I was a kid. It’s just something I want to complete, this is just the beginning though.”

Update on Jameson Williams

While Jameson Williams recovers from a torn ACL, he’s remained firmly on the radar of NFL teams. Prior to the Crimson Tide taking the field for their Pro Day, Adam Schefter of ESPN shared a video of Williams continuing to progress at an impressive rate.

“Former Alabama WR Jameson Williams, two months removed from surgery on his torn ACL, is not participating in Alabama’s Pro Day today. But here he is last week, continuing to progress, with the expectation being that he’ll be running by the draft, per @Alliance_Sports,” tweeted Schefter.

While he may miss the beginning of his rookie season, experts and fans alike still expect Williams to be a first round selection when the 2022 NFL Draft rolls around. He may not go in the top ten like he was projected at one point during last season, but the former Ohio State and Alabama wide receiver will make one team very happy.
