Bryce Young has stepped up in big moments all season. It makes you wonder if he gets rattled at all.

Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams knows how Young deals with pressure — and he shared a great story from last month’s Iron Bowl.

Remember, the Crimson Tide appeared on the verge of their second loss of the season. Auburn led 10-3 with 40 seconds left and Alabama was without Williams, who was ejected for targeting.

But Young wasn’t ready to lose one of the biggest games on the schedule. In fact, Williams said you wouldn’t know Alabama was fighting for its College Football Playoff life.

“That last drive, Bryce had a smile on his face,” Williams said. “So I would never say I have seen him rattled or intimidated by anything. I feel like he has the mindset that he knows he’s going to get the job done and that’s very great with Bryce and his mindset.”

The rest, as they say, is history. Alabama won that game 22-20 in four overtimes. A week later, the Crimson Tide defeated Georgia 41-24 despite being 6.5-point underdogs in the SEC Championship.

Those are two impressive performances from an impressive player. That’s why, when asked about what amazes him most about Young, Williams had a hard time narrowing it down.

“Bryce makes a lot of plays so I probably couldn’t pin that down on one thing,” Williams said. “He amazes me a lot with the running game he has and also some of the passes he makes. It’s just incredible. Bryce is great.”

Bryce Young is making a strong case for the Heisman Trophy

It’s hard to blame Williams for being so amazed at what Young has done this year. He leads the nation with 43 touchdown passes — including 15 to Williams — and ranks second in the FBS with 4,322 passing yards.

Young has put himself at the forefront of Heisman Trophy conversation and is among the four finalists heading to New York for Saturday’s ceremony, along with CJ Stroud, Kenny Pickett and Aidan Hutchinson. In fact, after Championship Weekend, Young was listed as the heavy favorite to bring home the trophy, according to Vegas Insider.

Alabama moved up to No. 1 in the final CFP rankings after its victory over Georgia. Now, the Crimson Tide have to get ready to take on No. 4 Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Eve. The winner advances to the national championship on Jan. 10.
