Montgomery (Ala.) Carver five-star teammates James Smith and Qua Russaw have been taking many of their visits together.

Thats has extended true into this weekend as the two players stayed in state for a visit to Alabama for its spring game.

The two took a photograph before the game with former Montgomery (Ala.) Carver star, former Alabama linebacker and current New England Patriots player Mack Wilson and 2023 prospect Antonio Trone.

The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Smith as the No. 5 overall recruit and Russaw as the No. 21 overall recruit. On3 ranks both players as top-10 recruits in the 2023 On300 ranking.

Russaw told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons that the school is up there for him.

“I love what Alabama is about,” Russaw told On3. “They win a lot, they develop players, and put a lot players into the NFL. All those things are very important to me.”

For Smith, he told Joseph Hastings that Alabama’s ability to develop players is top notch.

“They develop players,” Smith said.Discipline-wise, that’s what they like to do. That’s what Coach Saban tells me. He never lied me. Whatever he says he’s going to do, he’s going to do it. You’ve got to go there and want to do it. You can’t just go there and think, ‘Oh, I’m going to Bama and everything is going to be all right.’ You have to go there and want it.’”
