Alabama head basketball coach Nate Oats shared yet another positive update on his star guard Jahvon Quinerly on Tuesday. Oats told Jon Rothstein that the senior is still on track to return by SEC play but also that he could return “a little sooner.”

Quinerly suffered a left knee injury in the opening minutes of the Crimson Tide’s loss to Notre Dame in the 2022 NCAA Tournament on March 18 and has been rehabbing since. He opted to return to Alabama for another season after averaging 13.8 points, 4.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1% from the field last season.

Quinerly – a former On3 Consensus five-star recruit out of the Class of 2018 – has been an important part of Alabama’s team over the past two seasons. After averaging 12.9 points per game in 2020-2021, he improved his numbers and finished second on the team in scoring last season.

Early in his rehab process, the star point guard took to Twitter to request that fans not speculate on his timetable for return.

“Let’s stop throwing around opinionated timetables on when I’ll be ready to go next season,” Quinerly posted on Twitter. “I’m at one of the best places in the world to rehab and I watched several teammates go through the same thing and come back stronger & before expected so let me focus up. Thank you.”

The 6-foot-1 guard still isn’t practicing with the team but he certainly hasn’t been idle.

Quinerly transforms his body over summer while rehabbing from injury

Jahvon Quinerly has been a highly touted prospect ever since his high school days at Hudson Catholic, when he was rated as the top point guard in America and caught the attention of nearly every college basketball coach in the country.

This summer, the gifted guard has been putting in some serious work in the weight room, completely transforming his body while rehabbing from his knee injury.

Alabama basketball strength and conditioning coach Henry Barrera showed off Quinerly’s chiseled physique on his Instagram page earlier this month.

Quinerly’s chiseled physique is just yet another good sign for the Crimson Tide that he’ll come back stronger and better than ever following his left knee injury.
