Arkansas head basketball coach Eric Musselman is always looking for new themes and twists to bring into practice, especially during the offseason. The head coach going into his fourth year with the Razorbacks shared a unique passing drill on Twitter this week and it’s giving big KJ Jefferson energy.

In the drill, the Hog players are throwing a football around, instead of a basketball. Musselman hasn’t explained the benefits of the drill yet, but a football is harder to predict and catch than a basketball, so perhaps he’s working on his guys’ hands.

The former Wolfpack head coach should bring Arkansas starter KJ Jefferson in to show his players how it’s done, but the quarterback is just days away from starting fall camp.

The Sardis, Mississippi native is entering his second season as the Razorbacks’ starting quarterback. In 2021, he led the football team to a 9-4 finish, including wins against Texas, Texas A&M and Penn State. He starts 2022 with a highly-anticipated matchup at home versus Cincinnati. The Bearcats are coming off of a program-first College Football Playoff appearance.

Musselman, Hogs gearing up for another NCAA tournament run

Meanwhile, the Hogs basketball team is preparing for what could be a second-consecutive run in the NCAA tournament. Musselman’s squad made it to the Elite 8 this past March before falling to Duke.

Thanks to Eric Musselman’s work recreating a consistent contender in the basketball team, Sam Pittman completely turning around the football team and Dave Van Horn’s program, among others, Arkansas is the top SEC athletics program overall, according to CBS’s rankings.

The Arkansas basketball team recently borrowed a net from the volleyball team for a drill. They also played Sharks and Minnows during Shark Week and made a hype video for the Masters. Arkansas has a lot of new faces this offseason, as Musselman’s teams typically do. The creative drills are helping them build comradery and chemistry ahead of a big 2022-23 season.
