Arkansas lost their top four pass catchers from last season to the NFL or the transfer portal, but may be able to replace some of that production from within. Razorbacks wide receiver Isaiah Sategna returns this season after a freshman year where he saw limited action. And he may lack experience, but he hasn’t lacked in big play ability, turning heads at spring practice particularly after the team returned from spring break.

He also had a strong performance in the Arkansas spring game, and afterward, quarterback KJ Jefferson spoke about his strong showing.

“He’s made great strides this spring, he’s really embraced it,” Jefferson said. “That whole receiver room has really embraced the competition level, they come in each and every day ready to work. So in their room it’s just iron sharpening iron and I’m glad Isaiah got a chance to showcase his talents today, his athleticism, and he made some really good catches down the field, and across the middle, and stuff like that.”

Sategna only recorded two catches for 12 yards last season, but is poised for a much bigger year this season. In the Razorbacks’ spring game, he hauled in three catches for 95 yards and three touchdowns to lead all pass catchers.

He had it clicking no matter who was under center, catching a 65-yard touchdown pass from Jefferson on a seam route from the slot and a 17-yard touchdown pass from Cade Fortin.

“We always knew that Isaiah had the potential to play in this league and just being able to showcase his talents today is just really amazing,” Jefferson said.

Sategna stayed local for his collegiate career, attending Fayetteville high school in Arkansas where he was ranked the No. 25 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas in the 2022 class according to On3’s Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He’s not the biggest, standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 178 pounds. But his speed and quickness at the slot receiver position make him a tough cover for any defensive player. He excelled at finding open space and making big-time plays in Arkansas’ spring game, and hopefully, he can do the same for the Razorbacks this upcoming season in a year where their wideouts have a lot to prove.
