Mississippi State has proven to be a sneaky good team in the early parts of the season. While they don’t get the same attention as some teams in the SEC, the Bulldogs are no less dangerous. From Mike Leach to Will Rogers and down to the rest of the roster, Sam Pittman knows how big of a challenge they provide Arkansas.

Pittman opened his press conference on Monday by sharing some high praise for Rogers and Mississippi State. He says everything has come together for Leach to make a team that makes an easy case as a Top-25 team.

“Will Rogers is a problem. He’s a really good quarterback. Their offense, what they do, got a lot of talented receivers. Defensively they’re gonna attack and blitz a lot. It seems to be working for them. But they play extremely, extremely hard and they’re well coached,” said Pittman. “There’s a reason they’re 4-1 and ranked in the Top-25. They’ve got a really good football team but we’re excited to go play them.”

To start with Rogers as Pittman did, he has been one of the country’s most prolific passers to this point of the season. He has already thrown for over 1,700 yards with a 19 to 3 touchdown to interception ratio. That production has been a key part of the Bulldog’s Top-25 offense. That’s not even to mention their Top-50 defense.

As far as SEC teams go, Mississippi State may be one of the least talked about squads. However, besides a late collapse at LSU, they’ve had a very successful season so far. Pittman has a great team of his own, but they’ll have to bring their best this weekend to be able to get a win in Starkville.
