Auburn has its fair share of problems to fix right now. The Tigers may sit at 3-1, but they are still a flawed group at the moment that’s about to start SEC play. With that said, QB Robby Ashford says he knows the perfect remedy for their ailments.

Ashford spoke on Auburn’s struggles during media on Monday. He says the best way to fix some of their issues is by starting off faster and more aggressively during games.

“I think we’re just gonna come out and be more aggressive. Just execute better,” said Ashford. “I think we sometimes come out there kind of hesitant and that’s not us. I would say we haven’t been playing Auburn football to our standard. We lost the Penn State game and we were able to come out with a win (vs. Mizzou), but going into LSU we know we can’t do that. We’ve got to be clicking on all cylinders, offensively and defensively.”

Auburn was never able to put San Jose State away until the end, was blown out in the second half versus the Nittany Lions, and couldn’t get ahead of Missouri until Eli Drinkwitz’s team had some blunders of their own in the end. It’s been a winning start, but it’s still frustrating at times considering what Auburn has on the line this season.

However, Ashford says they’re very close to turning everything around. He’s very confident in what they could potentially pull off this weekend against LSU.

“It’s really up to us now to be able to flip that switch and just get around that corner. To be able to make us an all-around great team. I think we’re going to do it,” Ashford said. “I feel confident in this team, in the game plan we got, and in the coaching staff we have. It’s coming. I feel like this week is gonna be the week.”

Ashford and Auburn face some very tall tasks during the rest of their season. Following LSU, they face a gauntlet of Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Alabama. If they’re going to come together, now is the time. Starting with more energy like Ashford suggested would be a great first step in doing that.
