Another blue-chip recruit will be at Auburn‘s game against No. 22 Penn State on Saturday. Columbus (Ga.) Carver four-star defensive lineman and LSU commit Darron Reed announced on social media that he will be back to see the Tigers after taking an unofficial visit to their Sept. 3 win over Mercer.

Reed is the No. 218 overall prospect and No. 28 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 21 player in Georgia.

On3 rates Reed higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2023 On300, he is the No. 37 overall prospect, No. 5 defensive lineman and No. 2 player in Georgia.

Reed committed to LSU on July 4 and is the only defensive lineman in the Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class. Meanwhile, Auburn has no commitments from defensive linemen in its 2023 class.

Reed has an On3 NIL Valuation of $21K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Darron Reed On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Darron Reed:

“Big-framed, long defensive lineman with the build and versatile skill set to project at multiple spots along the front. Checks in at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds with the frame and length to continue filling out. Would not be surprised to see him end up in the 300 pound range after some time in a college strength program. Lines up inside and at defensive end for Carver and excels at both spots. Shows off an explosive first step along with the on-field athleticism to track down ball carriers as a pursuit defender. Pairs that athleticism with strong hands and the ability to shed blocks in run defense. Had a strong junior season as a stalwart on the defensive line for a state finalist team.”
