After an early exit in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, Baylor is reloading for a run at a title for the 2022-23 season. On Friday, the Bears received some help — landing prized BYU transfer forward Caleb Lohner over programs like the UCLA Bruins and Utah Utes.

Wrestling with the decision, Lohner finally shared the news on his Twitter late Friday, adding some photos of himself in a Baylor uniform that’ll have Bears faithful ready for him to hit the court.

A former three-star recruit in the class of 2020, Lohner was the No. 26 power forward in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. Additionally, Lohner played his high school basketball at the Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. The power forward was the No. 2 recruit in Utah, and the No. 139 recruit overall.

Last season, Lohner averaged 7.0 points and 6.4 rebounds over 23.2 minutes per game for the Cougars. The former BYU forward will be looking to carve out a bigger role for the Bears at his next stop.

According to On3’s 2022 College Basketball Transfer Portal Rankings, Lohner is the No. 56 available player in the portal overall, and the No. 12 overall power forward.

Earlier this month, Lohner took to Twitter, where he revealed how difficult of a decision it was for him to leave BYU.

“This has been a very difficult decision for me, but I believe it is the right one for me at this time,” Lohner said in a message shared on Twitter earlier this month. “I have loved BYU, will always be a Cougar, and will remember my time here fondly.

“I am also extraordinarily grateful to Cougar Nation, to all of my coaches, teammates, to the athletic department, and to the university for two terrific years that have not only been filled with awesome experiences but have also made me a better person.”

Now, Caleb Lohner will be looking to bring continued success to Baylor. The Bears will be out for revenge all throughout the 2022-23 season.
