NFL franchises are always looking for the next great defensive tackle to emerge, and Siaki Ika of Baylor could catch people’s attention as the 2023 NFL Draft approaches.

One person’s attention Ika has gotten is that of Mike Renner, who put together a list of the best prospect fit for each NFL franchise come next April for Pro Football Focus. In choosing where to have the Baylor stud land, Renner slotted Ika to go to the New York Jets, thinking he would be perfect for Robert Saleh’s defense.

“Robert Saleh will continue to invest in his defensive lines no matter where he’s plying his trade. Ika brings something to the table that the Jets don’t quite have currently after Folorunso Fatukasi walked in free agency, and that’s an immovable block in the middle of the defense,” wrote Renner. “He’s more than just that, however, as the 6-foot-4, 350-pounder earned an 85.7 pass-rushing grade last season, as well.”

Moreover, the Jets have been known for their ferocious defenses in the past, as it was the backbone of their Rex Ryan led AFC Championship Game squads. If New York can keep Siaki Ika wearing green at the next level, both sides would be very happy come next April.

Moreover, Pro Football Focus also ranked the Top 10 defensive tackle candidates for the 2023 NFL Draft, and Siaki Ika made his presence felt on the list.

To illustrate, the Baylor star came in at No. 4 on PFF’s rankings, and the outlet had plenty of tremendous things to say about Ika.

“In his first season at Baylor after transferring from LSU, Ika earned an 85.7 pass-rushing grade from PFF and racked up 33 pressures,” wrote Pro Football Focus. “He was a key member of a Bears defense that won the Big 12 championship in 2021, finishing with 24 tackles (six for loss) and 3.5 sacks.”

Indisputably, there’s a ton of respect being thrown Ika’s way. Ahead of the Baylor star on the list are Jalen Carter of Georgia, Bryan Bresee of Clemson and Jaquelin Roy of LSU. After Ika, formidable defensive stars like Gervon Dexter of Florida, Colby Wooden of Auburn and Jermayne Lole of Louisville come in.

That’s some great company for Siaki Ika to be in, and he has a chance to continue climbing the ranks with another great season for Baylor.
