Clemson transfer guard Al-Amir Dawes is currently scheduling visits to his potential suitors, as CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reports that he will check out a pair of programs over the next couple of weeks.

According to Rothstein, Dawes is set to visit Seton Hall next week and take a trip to Oklahoma State after that. Dawes’ visits to Seton Hall and Oklahoma State come after the guard recently went to Georgia to check out the Bulldogs’ program.

Dawes, who entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier this month, averaged 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 40.5% from the field for Clemson last season. His best game of the campaign came in the Tigers’ season-opening win over Presbyterian, as he scored 21 points while making four 3-pointers.

In Dawes’ last outing for Clemson, a loss to Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament on March 9, the guard scored just six points while taking only four total shots in 26 minutes of action.

A former On3 Consensus three-star recruit out of the Class of 2019, Dawes – a 6-foot-2, 182-pound prospect – committed to Clemson in Oct. 2018 while at St. Patrick High School in Newark, New Jersey.

Transfer portal background information for Dawes

The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.

The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.

Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
