Florida State hosts Clemson on Saturday, hoping to end a two-game losing streak and pull off a major upset. To do so, they’ll need to lean on their talented athletes. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney knows that Florida State is going to try to lean on those athletes, especially on the outside of the field.

While speaking to the media, Dabo Swinney was asked about Florida State’s wide receivers and if they’re a test to see how far the defense has come since the Wake Forest game when they allowed 45 points and 337 passing yards.

“They’re a big challenge,” Dabo Swinney said. “You know 80 [Ontaria Wilson] is a very seasoned veteran, very good player. I really like his game.”

“I think four [Mycah Pittman] is a–he’s a great slot. He does a lot of good stuff, makes some competitive plays. Back shoulder balls. They use him a lot of different ways. And then that big number 14 [Johnny Wilson], he’s a giant. I mean, you can have a guy there, but, you know, making the play on him is hard. So, they’ve definitely–and then their tight end is a really good player. They find him, use him,” Dabo Swinney said.

Dabo Swinney didn’t stop his praise at the wide receivers, though, praising Florida State’s backfield as a whole.

“I mean, they’re a complete group and they’ve got three of the best backs that you’re gonna see and then a quarterback who can fly around. So, it’s a great, they’ve got really good personnel and they know how to use their personnel to present challenges and attack you and present challenges. Definitely will be a big task to play well against these guys.”

Clemson and Florida State are set to kickoff at 7:30 PM on Saturday.

Dabo Swinney is happy to have a healthy defense

One thing that is going to make it easier for Dabo Swinney and Clemson to control the Florida State wide receivers is having a healthy defense. Swinney explained why the defense’s health makes him so excited.

“I’m really excited. I’m super pumped to have all hands on deck. They’ve all been there at one point or another but having everybody available at one time — really haven’t had that just yet. Hopefully, we’ll be able to play at a high level, play sharp, playing smart, keep guys fresh. But we got a tough challenge on our hands with this quarterback they got. It’s great,” Dabo Swinney said.

“I’m really happy to have Bryan [Bresee] back. Excited for him. Obviously, he’s been through a lot. It’s been good to watch him in practice. And then watch some of these secondary guys as well.”
