Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva three-star wide receiver Asaad Waseem announced his commitment to Colorado on Saturday night. He chose the Buffaloes over multiple programs, including Florida Atlantic and UCF.

Waseem is the No. 1,294 overall prospect and No. 197 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 181 player in Florida.

Colorado’s 2023 recruiting class now contains 13 commitments. The Buffaloes’ group ranks No. 57 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 9 in the Pac-12.

A 5-foot-10, 166-pound wideout, Waseem is one of two commitments today for Deion Sanders, who has been head coach in Boulder for less than a week. The other is Derby (Kan.) four-star running back Dylan Edwards, the No. 170 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Sanders and his staff now has commitments from four wide receivers. They are Waseem, Ardmore (Okla.) Plainview three-star wide receiver Morgan Pearson, Hollywood (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas three-star Isaiah Hardge and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei three-star Jordan Onovughe.

Waseem is one of multiple recent commitments for Sanders as he works to remake both Colorado’s roster and 2023 class. He is in a group that includes Edwards, Fort Myers (Fla.) IMG Academy 2025 four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. and Columbus (Ohio) KIPP Columbus three-star offensive tackle Jordan Hall.

Waseem has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
