The Duke Blue Devils steamrolled the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens 92-58 on Friday night. The game was actually much closer than the final score indicates, but the Blue Devils went on a 38-7 run in the final 12 minutes to pull away in the second half. It was the first game of the season for former five-star prospect Dariq Whitehead, who was ranked as the No. 2 overall player in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2022 cycle.

After his debut performance, he decided to show some love to his teammates, Tyrese Proctor, and Kyle Filipowski. Proctor stuffed the stat sheet with a double-double and another double-double machine on the Blue Devils, Filipowski, had to congratulate his teammate.

Check it out as all three Duke players chatted it up following the win.

Whitehead had a disappointing outing in his debut–scoring just six points on 3 of 11 shooting from the field. Things won’t stay that way for long at all. He’s simply too good of a talent. Look for him to bounce back and in a big way very soon.

Duke only led the game 42-36 at halftime, but erupted after the break, outscoring the Blue Hens 50-22 in the second half.

Duke once again is loaded with blue-chip stars like usual

Tyrese Proctor stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four assists on Friday night. The Blue Devils are always loaded with blue-chip recruits and Proctor appears to be one of the next greats in Durham. He attended the NBA Global Academy and was rated as the No. 45 overall player in the country in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.

Duke center Kyle Filipowski nearly had another double-double, pumping in 18 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and swatting 3 blocks in just 25 minutes of work. He was averaging a double-double leading up to Friday night’s game against Delaware. In Duke’s season-opening 69-64 loss to Kansas, Filipowski dominated with 17 points and 14 rebounds. He was rated the No. 5 overall player in America in the 2022 On3 Consensus Rankings, so the former five-star is living up his lofty billing.

Up next, Duke will face the pesky Bellarmine Knights. That one will be played on November 21st. Tip-off is set for 8:30 PM EST on the ACC Network. Bellarmine recently just knocked off the Louisville Cardinals 67-66 on their home floor.
