Asheville (N.C.) A.C. Reynolds safety DaShawn Stone has committed to Duke. He announced the news on social media.

Stone is not ranked in the 2023 On3 Consensus or the 2023 On300. He received multiple offers from programs including Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

The defensive back is now the 26th member of the Blue Devils’ 2023 recruiting class. Duke’s group consists of 25 three-stars and one unranked prospect.

Stone is the third safety in Duke’s class alongside New York (N.Y.) Blair Academy three-star Moussa Kane and Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy three-star River Hanson. Other defensive backs committed to the Blue Devils include Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb three-star cornerback Quentin Ajiero and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas three-star cornerback Kimari Robinson.

Stone is also Duke’s first pledge of August. Last month, the Blue Devils landed seven commitments. They were Ajiero, College Station (Texas) three-star running back Marquise Collins, Norfolk (Va.) Maury three-star running back Peyton Jones, Easton (Md.) three-star linebacker Kevin O’Connor, Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy three-star safety River Hanson, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside athlete Leon Griffin and Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School defensive lineman Anthony Boggs.

Duke had an even better month on the recruiting trail in June. The Blue Devils notched pledges from 17 recruits, including Pfafftown (N.C.) Reagan three-star EDGE Semaj Turner and Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School three-star defensive lineman Terry Simmons.

Duke’s 2023 class currently ranks No. 46 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 10 in the ACC. It is led by Turner, who is the No. 589 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Stone has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
