LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is known for his ability to avoid the rush and create plays with his feet, but Florida head coach Billy Napier isn’t letting those flashy plays distract him from noticing Daniels’ underrated passing prowess.

Ahead of Florida’s matchup against the Tigers, Napier discussed Daniels and the threat he poses the Gators when they battle on the gridiron this weekend.

“The guy has arm talent. He can throw any throw in the book,” Napier said Wednesday. “He’s accurate. His ability to work his way through a progression, and then kind of the unannounced play, like that wasn’t supposed to happen, but he’s he’s got a knack for that. So, there’s no question when you talk about matching the patterns, trying to put your players in position to leverage the skill players the right way, and then [Daniels] can take off.

“So [our game plan is that] we’ve got to be really tuned in relative to the rush plan in terms of where [Daniels is] at, working together to rush and affect the passer.”

Daniels, a proven dual-threat veteran quarterback that has two years of experience as the QB1 at Arizona State, has taken over as the SEC’s top dual-threat quarterback this season. With 359 rushing yards, he’s the conference’s 11th best rusher this season – better than the leading rushers from Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee.

Through the air, he can beat you just as well. Daniels has completed 121 of his 176 passing attempts this season to go with 1,215 yards through the air and 10 total touchdowns. Even more importantly, he’s only thrown one interception this season.

Still, Florida has their own dual-threat star in Anthony Richardson under center, and Saturday should be one of the most exciting SEC quarterback matchups of the weekend. Kickoff between the Gators and Tigers is set for 7 p.m. ET live from The Swamp.
