Florida basketball has scheduled a neutral site meeting with Ohio in Tampa, Florida, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. The game will be played inside Amalie Arena – home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning – on Dec. 14 as part of the 2022-23 non-conference schedule.

As Florida enters a new era under head coach Todd Golden, the short trek down the interstate to a major metropolitan area of the state will provide fans an earlier opportunity to see his new brand of basketball on full display against Ohio.

Last season, Florida finished 20-14 and 9-9 in the SEC before a second-round exit in the NIT. Meanwhile, Ohio went 25-10 and 14-6 in the MAC before a quarterfinals exit in the CBI. As both teams look to make their way back into the NCAA Tournament in 2022-23, the early season showdown will provide new faces to become household names on a pair of new-look rosters.

Florida learns SEC conference opponents

The SEC announced the full list of men’s basketball conference opponents for each of its 14 member schools on Wednesday morning, making the home and road slate known for the 2022-23 schedule. While dates, times and television assignments will be revealed at a later date, this release marks the start of the multi-step process.

The SEC men’s basketball conference schedule features 18 total games for each school, including nine home games and nine road games. Each team plays all other 13 opponents at least once with five home-and-away opponents which feature a combination of annual opponents and rotating teams.

In addition, Florida learned that it will face Kansas State in the 2023 Big 12/SEC Challenge as part of a weekend-long event across the ESPN networks.
