The time and TV spot have been announced for a big SEC matchup between Florida and Kentucky on Saturday. The Gators are set to kick off at 6 p.m. ET in Lexington against the Wildcats in a nationally televised game on ESPN.

Kentucky (4-0, 2-0 SEC) is 2-0 in conference play for just the second time since 1977. It will look to prove it is for real in its first matchup with a ranked opponent all season.

Following a heartbreaking loss to No. 1 Alabama, the Gators (3-1, 1-1 SEC) rebounded with a 38-14 home victory against Tennessee in which they shut out the Volunteers in the second half. The Wildcats toughed it out on the road against South Carolina, 16-10.

Since 1987, Kentucky has beaten Florida only once. That happened in 2018 and the Wildcats will hope a home crowd can help them knock off one of college football’s finest once again.

The Wildcats retooled their offense in 2021 and averaged 36 points through their first three games. They move the ball well, putting up 443 yards on average with a good blend of run and pass.

Penn State transfer Will Levis has been a big upgrade at quarterback so far. He has 906 yards passing and seven touchdowns on the year. Taking care of the ball seems his biggest weakness, as he also has five interceptions.

They will face a tough Florida defense that ranks 39th in the country against the run. Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. has been the biggest offensive weapon so far. He has at least 100 yards rushing in three of the Wildcats’ four games, including a 206-yard three-touchdown effort against Missouri.

Gators quarterback Emory Jones put together quite the game against Tennessee. He finished with 209 yards passing and two touchdowns to go along with 15 carries for 144 yards rushing. The time is now for the Florida star to build on that game in a game against Kentucky on national TV.
