Flower Mound (Texas) High four-star quarterback Nick Evers decommitted from Florida on Tuesday night, he tells On3. The 6-foot-3, 187-pound Evers has been committed to the Gators since March.

The following statement sent to On3 from Nick Evers regarding his decommitment:

With the HEAVIEST of heart, after much prayer and discussion with those closest to me, I have decided to decommit from the University of Florida. I’m so thankful to Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Garrick] McGee who gave me the opportunity to attend UF.  Additionally, I want to thank Coach [Billy] Napier for allowing me to be a small part of his vision.  Mostly, I want to thank Gator Nation – you have welcomed us and my heart will forever belong to this special place! Florida deserves greatness & I wish nothing but blessings to you all!

Hoping to find my new path…quickly!

My Recruitment is now Open!

Other Schools inquire about Evers

Following the firing of former Florida head coach Dan Mullen, On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton reported that Texas reached out to Evers in an attempt to get him to visit the Longhorns campus. Hamilton also mentioned Notre Dame and Kansas State as two other programs that reached out to Evers. Oklahoma is also pushing for an official visit, Hamilton reported.

It is unclear which programs Evers will look at next after this decommitment.

Nick Evers Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Nick Evers as a prospect:

Physically-gifted signal caller with one of the quickest releases in the 2022 cycle. A natural thrower of the football with the ability to dot passes with velocity to all levels of the field. Drives the ball from the far hash to the sideline with ease. Also a good athlete for the position. Has light feet in the pocket. Began to run more as a senior, rushing for double-digit touchdowns as a senior. Faces tough competition and is not surrounded by a ton of talent on his team. Was plagued by an inordinate amount of drops as a senior. Drug his team into the playoffs as a senior. Just a two-year starter who is still gaining experience in seeing the field. Had a tendency to press at times in an effort to make plays for his team, leading to some mistakes. Upside is among the highest in the cycle if he develops properly at the next level.

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that uses all four major recruiting services, ranks Evers as the nation’s No. 125 overall prospect, the No. 8 quarterback, and the No. 24 player in the state of Texas for 2022.

Florida now has nine recruits committed in the 2022 class. The On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings now have the Gators at No. 38 in the nation.
