Todd Golden discusses Florida's summer workout program, Boogie Fland's progression

Todd Golden‘s Florida program has had an eventful last few months, as it won its first National Championship since 2007, had three players selected in the 2025 NBA Draft and hauled in three big time contributors from the Transfer Portal.
The Gators brought in just three players, but all three will be major contributors on a squad returning big-time pieces in center Rueben Chinyelu, forward Alex Condon, forward Thomas Haugh and center Micah Handlogten.
Arkansas transfer guard Boogie Fland (No. 7 ranked transfer), Princeton transfer guard Xaivian Lee (No. 39 ranked transfer) and Ohio transfer guard AJ Brown (No. 84 ranked transfer) make up the No. 38 ranked transfer class, looking to help the Gators to their second two-peat in program history.
Golden discussed his incoming transfers and touched on Florida‘s summer workout program this week.
Golden credits strength and conditioning coach for team progression
“I think in the summer, individual player development is a huge part of it,” Golden said. “But we have an opportunity to have these six or seven weeks together to try and build a little bit of the team and I think we have a great foundation with the guys coming back. But you know adding Xaivian [Lee], Boogie [Fland], AJ [Brown], CJ [Ingram] and Alex [Lloyd], this gives us a great opportunity to catch them up to speed before the school year starts. That’s kind of the main thing we’re trying to do right now.”

Fland, who averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 assists for an Arkansas program that reached the Sweet Sixteen last season, was one of the most sought after transfers in the country this offseason. Golden claims that Walter Clayton‘s development was one of the reasons he wanted to be at Florida.
“I think [strength and conditioning coach] Victor Lopez has done an incredible job that way since we’ve been here,” Golden continued. “If you look at our team last year and just how physically imposing we were and how strong we were, I think he does a great job in the summer getting these guys ready. That’s one of the reasons Boogie wanted to come down here. He looked at how Walter [Clayton]‘s body changed and how Will [Richard]‘s body changed. I think he’s a guy that has a pretty good canvas, but has to put some time in the weight room and continue to get stronger. He’s done a great job at attacking it so far and he’ll do a great job with it the rest of the summer.”
