Florida coach Todd Golden landed a nice transfer portal victory on Saturday.

Will Richard, who played last season at Belmont, announced his commitment to Gators on Saturday. He averaged 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Bruins last season and became one of the more sought-after mid-major guards in the portal.

Richard starred for Belmont last season as a freshman, leading the Bruins to a 25-8 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Ohio Valley Conference action. Belmont missed out on the NCAA Tournament, but earned an appearance in the NIT, where it fell to Vanderbilt in the first round.

Richard entered the transfer portal March 22 and garnered plenty of high-major interest. In addition to Florida,  ArkansasTennesseeClemsonOhio State and Penn State expressed interest, among many others.

The Gators underwent a coaching change this offseason, bringing in Golden after Mike White departed for Georgia. They went 20-14 overall and 9-9 in SEC play in 2021-22, missing out on the NCAA Tournament. In the NIT, Florida fell to eventual champion Xavier in the second round.

LSU transfer Alex Fudge visits Florida

Former LSU forward Alex Fudge is visiting Florida on Saturday after receiving big interest in the transfer portal, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. In addition to the visit, he reports that the list of schools to reach out includes Georgia, LSU, Marquette, Texas A&M and USC.

After the firing of head coach Will Wade, amid an NCAA investigation into the program, LSU basketball lost all 13 scholarship players to either the NBA Draft or transfer portal last month. New head coach Matt McMahon appears to have interest in bringing back at least part of that group as the Tigers make the list for Fudge.

Alex Fudge appeared in 29 games with one start in his freshman season at LSU before opting to enter the transfer portal to receive interest from other schools. He averaged 3.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in just 13.9 minutes per game on the way to an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Coming out of high school, Fudge was a four-star recruit who ranked No. 81 overall player in his class. He initially chose LSU over AlabamaArizona State and others.
