4-star DL Keith Sampson Jr. affirms Florida State commitment

New Bern (N.C.) four-star defensive lineman Keith Sampson Jr. committed to Florida State on March 5. Since then, he has made multiple visits to other programs.

The list includes a Sept. 9 official visit to NC State, a June 24 official visit to North Carolina and a March 19th unofficial visit to South Carolina. However, Sampson Jr. is locked in with the Seminoles, according to a statement he posted to social media on Wednesday.

“My verbal commitment with Florida State University is still 100%,” Sampson Jr. wrote. “If any things changes, you’ll hear it from me before any sports analyst. #tribe23.”

Sampson Jr. is the No. 197 overall prospect and No. 25 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in North Carolina.

On3 rates Sampson Jr. higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2023 On300, he is the No. 185 overall prospect and No. 23 defensive lineman.

Only three players in the Seminoles’ 2023 recruiting class are ranked higher than Sampson Jr. The North Carolina native is also the group’s fourth top-200 prospect.

Sampson Jr. has an On3 NIL Valuation of $18.6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
