Green’s jumper early in the first half of the Seminoles’ game against Florida put him in elite company. The transfer from UCF is in his fourth game with Florida State and averaged a team-high 16.3 points per game entering Friday’s showdown with the Gators.

In three years with UCF, Green scored 949 points and averaged 11.6 points per game.

Florida State is off to a rough start to the 2022-23 season, dropping its first three games of the season to Stetson, UCF and Troy. The Seminoles are looking to get back on track against a Florida team that underwent massive changes this offseason, notably with new coach Todd Golden taking the reins after Mike White left for Georgia. Golden was the coach at San Francisco from 2019-22 before taking over at Florida, which marked a return to the SEC for the former Auburn assistant.

Florida State is trying to bounce back from home loss to Troy darlier this week

Florida State lost its first two games of the year — at home to Stetson and on the road to UCF — before losing another non-conference home game, this time to Troy, 79-72 in front of the home crowd Monday night.

The Seminoles put up an impressive fight despite being limited to just seven players on the night. Florida State was paced by Darin Green, who had 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field as he continued to lead the team in scoring. Cam’ron Fletcher also contributed a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Caleb Mills added 14 points of his own. But that wasn’t enough as the Seminoles remained winless on the young season.
