Florida State‘s one-point victory over LSU was full of momentum swings, crucial turnovers, and big plays. But no play may have been bigger than FSU quarterback Jordan Travisthird-quarter touchdown pass to receiver Ontaria “Pokey” Wilson.

Travis took a heavy hit to the head on the play from LSU linebacker Ali Gaye, which was ruled a targeting penalty resulting in Gaye being ejected, and Wilson made a spectacular one-handed catch in the end zone with corner Jarrick Bernard-Converse draped on him, drawing a pass interference call along with his touchdown.

Following the game, Travis talked about the hit that he took on that play, where he showed toughness in the pocket and his willingness to win.

“That one hurt a little bit, feeling that right now a little bit, but I would do whatever for this football team and Florida State University. Pokey made a great play, I honestly didn’t know if he caught it or not, but he made a great play and I’m grateful for it,” Travis said.

Wilson had one of the best games of his career for the Seminoles, recording his second 100-yard receiving game and second two-touchdown performance of his career. Wilson ended the day as FSU’s leading receiver with 7 receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Travis talked more about his teammate, who he clearly has a strong bond with, and was elated about his performance.

“I’m so happy for Pokey, so happy, he’s been through a lot. A lot of ups and downs to his career, life and all, just seeing the smile on his face is really special for me because I know the type of person he is. He’s a great person before the player and I’m so glad he had a great game tonight, I’m so glad. I can’t wait to give him a hug right now and just let him know how I feel about it,” Travis said.

Travis’ two touchdown passes of the day were exclusively to Wilson, as he threw for an efficient 260 yards and no interceptions. Travis also displayed his dazzling scrambling ability throughout the contest as he was constantly avoiding pressure and extending plays, adding 31 rushing yards to his day.

Travis and Wilson were firing on all cylinders in their first true test of the season, and hopefully, for the Seminoles, their one-two punch can lead them to some more victories this season.
