Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis is one of the most improved players in college football this season. There are some commentators, like Tom Luginbill, who think that he is the most improved player in college football. Travis could easily be basking in the glow of his own accomplishments this year, but he is instead enjoying watching his backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker succeed. Against Louisville once Travis was injured, Rodemaker stepped up in a big way in leading the Seminoles to a 35-31 victory. In a press conference on Wednesday, Travis talked about how much he’s enjoyed watching Rodemaker succeed after all he’s been through.

“It mean the world. Seeing what Tate’s been through. All the outside noise. Once again. He hears it. Us as college players, we hear everything. Social media. We see it at the end of the day. Just seeing him succeed. It meant the world to me. It brought tears to my eyes. Just seeing him grow. And all the stuff he’s been through. It’s amazing for sure,” Travis said recently.

With less than four minutes remaining in the second quarter against Louisville, the Seminoles were trailing 21-14. Jordan Travis left the game due to an injury, which forced Rodemaker into action. He delivered a shocking performance, lifting the Seminoles to a 35-31 comeback victory. Rodemaker finished the game completing 6 of 10 passes for 109 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and an interception. It was a stunning performance that few expected from the backup quarterback.

The Seminoles currently sit at 4-0 on the season and a big reason for that their superb play at quarterback. It doesn’t hurt having Johnny Wilson and Ontaria Wilson at receiver, either. The Seminoles also have a stable of talented running backs.

Florida State will get a stiff test this weekend when they face Sam Hartman and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Kickoff is currently slated for Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 PM EST. The game will be nationally televised on ABC.
