The Florida State Seminoles added a massive commitment on Tuesday. Former Oregon running back Trey Benson announced that he’s headed to join Mike Norvell in Tallahassee.

“I’m ready to prove myself right, let’s work!!!” Benson posted with his commitment graphic. He entered the NCAA transfer portal just last week.

Benson played in nine games for the Ducks in 2021, his redshirt freshman said. He ran for 22 yards and one touchdown on six carries. However, he suffered a major knee injury in December of 2020 and spent much of the offseason and preseason camp rehabbing.

A former 4-star recruit in the class of 2020, Benson was On3’s No. 346 overall prospect and No. 6 running back. The Greenville, Miss., native also held offers from Notre Dame, Florida State, and Penn State, among many others.

Chubba Purdy announces transfer destination

On Monday, Nebraska landed another transfer in Florida State’s Chubba Purdy. He announced he is heading to Lincoln via Twitter. At Nebraska, he will battle for the starting job with former Texas quarterback Casey Thompson. Purdy originally entered the transfer portal on Nov. 3.

Purdy only played in four games during his time with Florida State over two seasons. He completed 55.2% of his throws for 317 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception. Only appearing against UMass this year for the Seminoles, Purdy was five for five 98 yards and two touchdowns.

As a recruit, Purdy was a four-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus. He was originally a member of the 2020 recruiting class and is the younger brother of former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy.

Purdy was a top 200 player coming out of high school and ranked the No. 14 quarterback. From his home state of Arizona, he was the No. 7 prospect. Nebraska did not originally offer Purdy out of high school, however, they still won the transfer recruitment against Oklahoma.
