With Florida State’s struggles out of the gate, rival coaches have been attempting to change the mind of many of the Seminoles top commitments. This includes five-star ATH Travis Hunter of Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill.

However, Hunter said he is staying true with FSU.

During an Instagram Live a couple of hours after Florida State lost Wake Forest, 35-14, and dropped to 0-3 on the season, Hunter told fans to not believe any rumors that he’s wavering on his pledge.

“I’m not going nowhere, bro,” Hunter said. “Don’t let them boys fool y’all. I’m committed. I’m staying committed.”

Hunter has been committed to the Seminoles since March 2020. He took an official visit to FSU on Sept. 5. He was on campus again when the Noles lost to Jacksonville State.

Yet, many national recruiting observers and Florida State fans have been speculating Hunter could be looking around at other schools. It’s true that Hunter could go to about any school in the country he wants – he’s that talented – but the nation’s No. 2 prospect says that’s not the case for him.

“I’m committed,” Hunter told On3 earlier this fall. “I’m staying committed.”

That appears to still be the case, even with FSU’s slow start.

Travis Hunter having impressive season

Here’s what On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power had to say on Travis Hunter’s start to his senior season.

“Travis Hunter is the most impactful non-quarterback in high school football,” Power said. “He has truly elite ball skills with a huge catch radius. Hunter makes use of that ability as a receiver and defensive back. In watching a bunch of his games over the past year, it’s a question of when, not if Hunter makes a huge play. The competitiveness and stamina to never come off the field is also very impressive. He took a big shot to his lower body on one catch and run but stayed on the field and was a lead blocker on a touchdown the very next play.”

Power continued.

“Hunter is a rare prospect in that he is a legitimate five-star on either side of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback,” he said. “The production on Friday nights is off the charts. He had over 1,700 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns to go with eight interceptions in 2020.  He might out-do himself this year if the first game is any indication.”

Hunter not only had a dominant junior season and senior season opener, the Florida State commit also dominated the 7on7 circuit this offseason. In July, Hunter helped lead Cam Newton 7-on-7 to win the Pylon National Championship.

Earlier this offseason, On3’s Jeremy Johnson wrote a feature on Travis Hunter Jr, who is aiming to be unstoppable.

“I’m trying to prove that I’m the best player and nobody is going to stop me,” Hunter told Johnson. “I don’t care if it’s a triple team on offense or if they try to go after me on defense. Nobody is going to be able to stop me.”
