Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton defensive lineman Lebbeus Overton is one of the biggest prizes in the 2023 recruiting class, and Friday night, one of his many suitors came to town.

Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, considered one of the country’s elite recruiters, was spotted by On3 National Recruiting Analyst Jeremy Johnson at Milton’s game against Roswell.

The game featured a number of Division I prospects, but Overton, the No. 7 overall player in the 2023 On300 rankings, was the main attraction. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Overton is one of the most sought-after prospects in his class, and for good reason. In his first two varsity seasons in 2019 and 2020, Overton recorded 175 total tackles, 40.5 sacks, and seven forced fumbles.

Overton holds more than two dozen offers, including Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson and others. He took unofficial visits to Kentucky and Oklahoma in September before trips to Georgia and Texas A&M in recent weeks.

He named a top 12 of schools over the summer, but according to Johnson, a trio of schools were standing out: Texas A&M, Clemson and Ohio State.

Lebbeus Overton didn’t immediately name Alabama as a school high on his list as of now. But the Crimson Tide will be a team to watch over the coming months, according to Johnson.
