Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill athlete Travis Hunter has been committed to Florida State for more than seven months. But with the Seminoles’ abysmal start to the season and head coach Mike Norvell’s seat getting warmer by the day, Hunter is drawing lots of interest.

One of the schools most interested in the No. 2 overall player in 2022 On300 is Georgia. And after visiting the Bulldogs on Oct. 2, Hunter was the main attraction for Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart Thursday night. Despite Hunter likely missing the rest of the season with an ankle injury, Smart traveled via helicopter to Collins Hill’s road game at North Gwinnett.

Travis Hunter is locked in with FSU right now

Amid the overtures from Smart and Co., Hunter says he remains committed to Florida State. The Seminoles have become a prime target for teams looking to pick off committed players with so much turmoil in the program and uncertainty about Norvell’s future.

Georgia told Hunter that even after he committed to FSU in March, they “weren’t going to stop recruiting me.”

He told ClemsonSports’ Joseph Hastings that things aren’t serious between him and the ‘Dawgs, though.

“I’m pretty much locked in with Florida State right now. My mind ain’t changing a little bit,” Hunter said. “I’m not really keeping in touch with Georgia. I just went up there to watch a game, really. I let them do their job. [Last I spoke with them] was probably two weeks ago. I pretty much don’t talk with them like that.”

Georgia is hosting a loaded visitors’ weekend

Rumors of Hunter returning to Athens this weekend for the top-ranked Bulldogs’ showdown with No. 11 Kentucky have been floating around. But regardless of whether those become reality, Georgia will have a stacked group of visitors this weekend.

Top-100 wide receiver Luther Burden will be on his official visit ahead of a scheduled commitment on Tuesday, as will five-star USC defensive line commit Mykel Williams. Also expected is recent Miami decommit and four-star defensive back Tre’Quon Fegans. The nation’s No. 1 overall player, EDGE Marvin Jones Jr., is expected in as well. If Travis Hunter joins that group, the Bulldogs might just have the most talent on a weekend visit we’ve seen in recent memory.
