Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have finally done it. After four gut-wrenching attempts, they have gotten over the Alabama hump and are national champions. It’s a third consecutive title for the SEC but the first in Athens since the 1980 season.

After the game, when all of the players are receiving celebratory shirts and hats, there seemed to be a small mess up on the field. Star linebacker Nakobe Dean was given an Alabama national championship hat instead of the correct Georgia one.

Check out the photo here:

After a dreadful SEC championship performance, the Georgia defense returned to form and was able to shut down Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. It’s been the theme all season for the Bulldogs and it came through on the biggest stage.

Dean was one of the best players not just for Georgia this season but in the entire country. He won the Butkus Award for being the nation’s best linebacker and is a surefire first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Hopefully, Dean got the right hat.

Georgia Bulldogs HC Kirby Smart celebrates game wining interception

For the first time in 41 years, the Georgia Bulldogs are national champions. As they have all season, the Bulldog defensive front was dominant, getting to Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Bryce Young all night.

However, the play that sealed the national championship came from the secondary. Desperate to go down the field to tie the game, Young threw a ball up and was intercepted by cornerback Kelee Ringo. Instead of going down and letting the offense run out the clock, he decided to return it himself.

Head coach Kirby Smart’s reaction on the sideline was awesome and one every Georgia fan in the country most likely had themselves. Smart jumped as high as he could in the air and tried to keep up with Ringo down the sideline.
