Georgia is losing a piece of their staff to Western Kentucky. According to On3’s Matt Zenitz, UGA grad assistant and assistant defensive line coach Carson Hall is about to leave to be the defensive line coach for Western Kentucky. Here was the report from Zenitz:

“Georgia graduate assistant/assistant defensive line coach Carson Hall is expected to be hired as the new defensive line coach at Western Kentucky, sources tell @On3sports. Hall, who played at Georgia, worked at Illinois before joining the staff at UGA.”

The move comes right on the heels of the Hilltoppers losing their previous defensive line coach, Kenny Baker, to the NFL. Zenitz reported on Thursday that Baker would take a job with the Dolphins helping coach their defensive line:

“The Miami Dolphins are expected to hire Western Kentucky defensive line coach Kenny Baker as assistant defensive line coach, sources tell On3. Baker helped WKU rank second in C-USA in sacks, scoring defense and opposing yards per carry last year.”

A quick plug for WKU and a good one too, considering the success of the Bulldog defensive front over the past couple of season. But also, a loss for Georgia.

Another Georgia defensive coach could be on the move

Georgia co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann is reportedly on the Philadelphia Eagles’ radar, according to Dan Mathews of 680 The Fan.

Schumann is the latest college coach interviewed by the Eagles for the vacant defensive coordinator job in Philadelphia. The Eagles interviewed former Wisconsin interim coach Jim Leonhard, but passed. Philadelphia also reportedly interviewed Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

Schumann is the latest college coach potentially making a jump to the pros, according to Mathews’ report.

Schumann was previously a name to watch for Alabama’s defensive coordinator job back in January, according to Bruce Feldman.

Schumann has been the co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Georgia since 2019. He joined the staff in 2016 solely to coach inside linebackers and then got the title bump. Schumann is only 32 years old.
